Summary:
Responsible for providing patient care as appropriate in the clinical setting, for medical case management, coordination of services with other agencies, clinical tracking of special population groups and any other activities or duties required to assure optimal patient services.
Essential Functions:
1.
Provides comprehensive physical assessment of patients and evaluates the outcome of patient care.
2.
Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.
3.
Arranges referrals, consultations, therapeutic services, and confers with other specialist on course of care and treatment.
4.
Establish medical diagnosis for common short-term and chronic stable health problems.
5.
Order, perform, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests.
6.
Order and perform diagnostic, therapeutic, and corrective measures.
Prescribe drugs7.
Provide urgent care.
8.
Refer patients to appropriate licensed physicians or other health care providers as needed.
9.
May refer patients to physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment.
10.
Provides direct patient care as needed and appropriate to serve the community in accordance with the organizations Health Care Plan.
11.
Provides appropriate documentation of clinical care provided in a timely manner.
This includes maintenance of patient charts in accordance with clinic protocols, and timely documentation of clinical procedures on encounter forms.
12.
Complies with regulations regarding consultations and other services as required by patients insurance coverage.
13.
Complies with Joint Commission standards for ambulatory care.
14.
Performs timely entry into, and manipulation of, the Electronic Health Record.

Essential Functions:
1.
Provides clinical leadership and acts as a resource to other members of the health care team, patients, or other members of the community.
2.
Provides clinical supervision and acts as a resource to nurse practitioners working in the clinic as appropriate.
3.
Works with center manager to facilitate smooth operation of clinic flow.
4.
Assures quality of patient care by participating in the organizations Performance Improvement activities.
5.
Cooperates with compliance review activities.
6.
Submits information needed for credentialing files in a timely manner.
7.
When needed, assists the Safety Officer with employee health activities, especially in the event of an exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
8.
Participates in team/staff meetings; attends in-service meetings and applicable workshops.
9.
Performs any and all other duties required to provide for optimal patient care.

Current License to practice medicine in the State of Maryland.

Current Maryland prescriber number, and current DEA and CDS License.
3.
Board certification or eligibility in a primary care specialty.
Board certification preferred, certification expected within one year of employment.
